PermaBase BRAND Cement Board is a rigid substrate made of Portland cement, aggregate and glass mesh that provides an exceptionally hard durable surface that is able to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture. PermaBase innovated the use of lightweight polystyrene beads within the Portland cement core to provide performance benefits unique to only PermaBase. The use of polystyrene aggregate makes PermaBase significantly lighter than standard cement boards. These lightweight beads also contribute to the industry’s lowest water absorption, preventing the Acrylabs liquid applied membrane from drying prematurely and eliminating expensive call backs. Polystyrene beads also make PermaBase easy to cut with a standard utility knife. PermaBase’s reinforced edge is another exclusive feature that distinguishes PermaBase from the competition. This exceptional edge allows fasteners to be installed closer to the edge without fracturing as compared to other cement boards. The reinforced edges also make PermaBase more comfortable to handle and reduces damage from handling.
